Unit Elections
The Order of
the Arrow is Scouting's Honor Society chartered by the Boy Scouts of
America. It recognizes those campers who best exemplify the Scout
Oath and Law in their daily lives. The OA promotes camping and
crystallizes the habit of helpfulness as a life purpose.
Each Boy Scout
Troops and Varsity Teams, with qualified Scouts,
are urged to hold an
election each year (only once) between January 1st & June 30th, to
select candidates for membership in the Order of the Arrow. The date
and place of the election must be coordinated with your Chapter Unit
Elections team with the help of your OA Unit Representative and your
Unit Leader.
Scouts who are
elected by their unit are publicly recognized at Call-Out ceremonies
held weekly at Will Rogers Scout Reservation during summer camp.
They are then invited to take the Ordeal ceremony and become a
member in the Order of the Arrow.
Ask your Scoutmaster about your
Units elections.
