High Adventure Bases

Double H High Adventure Base

Philmont Scout Ranch

The Boy Scouts of America's premier high-adventure base challenges Scouts and Venturers with more than 200 square miles of rugged New Mexico wilderness. Backpacking treks, horseback cavalcades, and training and service programs offer young people many ways to experience this legendary country. Additional Philmont Information

Florida Sea Base

The Florida National High Adventure Sea Base is headquartered in the heart of the fabulous Florida Keys, on an island (Lower Matecumbe Key) 75 miles south of Miami. Scouting's most complete aquatic facility offers a complete variety of water activities from SCUBA diving to sailing "Tall Ships". All participants have the opportunity to swim, snorkel, and fish among the most beautiful coral reefs in the northern hemisphere.

Northern Tier

Northern Tier offers more wilderness camping (3 million acres) than any other opportunity in Scouting. Northern Tier is so remote that nesting bald eagles abound, the portages between the lakes are moose trails, and the humans are just visitors. This is the land where the French-Canadian voyageurs traded for beaver pelts with the native populations, and you can still see the ancient Indian pictographs on the sheer rock faces.

Maine High Adventure Area

Maine High Adventure is a challenging outdoor program offered by the Boy Scouts of America. Each summer hundreds of Scouts and Venture Crews enjoy unique backcountry experiences in northern Maine. The area encompasses Mount Katahdin, the Allagash Waterway, a portion of the Appalachian Trail and the Penobscot watershed - more than 10,000 square miles of the north Maine woods which remains much as Henry David Thoreau saw it 140 years ago. A highly proficient guide is assigned to help each crew enjoy a successful adventure.

Summit Base Is...

A unique collection of challenging outdoor activities. Surrounded by the tremendous opportunities of the Adirondack Park, our program creates a full experience for any skill level.

Our trek program will carry you anywhere in the Park. In camp, you can rock climb, participate in Project COPE, use our indoor climbing wall or take advantage of our guide services within our local mountain ranges.

Summit Base is located at Curtis S. Read Scout Reservation in the Adirondack Park of New York State.

The six million acre Adirondack Park is comprised of breathtaking mountain ranges, inspiring valleys, thousands of pristine lakes and miles of rivers and trails.

The 'North Country' is an abundance of opportunities for an individual to test oneself physically, mentally and emotionally against country as rugged and untamed as it is beautiful.
