Cub Scout Resident Camp

"Super Stars"

Cub Scout Resident Camp
Will Rogers Scout Reservation - Cleveland, OK

What is Resident Camp?
Resident camps are different than Day Camps, you will be spending the night and meals are included.  A Medical Form & registration sheet are required for each person attending.  Of course your Cub Scout can do BOTH events this summer!  We hope to see you at Will Rogers Scout Reservation in Cleveland for our 2008 Resident Camp.

All Resident Camps are on our Event Calendar

Balloon Tracker
During the 2007 Resident Camps we launched balloons. As of August 12, 2007; Bradley's balloon from the 2nd session traveled 60 miles before landing in a friend's yard in Perkins.

"Super Stars" DVD Project
One exciting project will be a video of the Scouts explaining what makes them special, why they are "Super Stars" and share a dream they have. Our goal is to then save it onto DVD be ready for the Scouts to take home with them at the end of the resident camp!  The Cubs' safety and parents permission is a must. If you think that you may be interested in helping with this production we want your help.

For more information contact Jeff Combs at 580-823-0386 or pack34jeff@yahoo.com

If your son wants to participate, mail the completed permission slip to Jeff Combs, 1023 West Lincoln, Blackwell OK, 74631 or submit at camp check in.

Cub Scout Academics and Sports Belt Loops and Pins
Cub Scouts will have the opportunity to earn several Academic and Sports Belt Loops while at camp, both during the standard sessions and the elective sessions.  A record of all the belt loops and pins earned at camp will be provided to the boys. The belt loops themselves may be purchased in the camp store, or your Pack may provide them to their Cub Scouts at home.

Advancement in Camp
Most of the camp's activities will meet a Cub Scouting or WEBELOS Scouting advancement requirement, although some activities are presented just for the fun and enjoyment of the activity.  We will provide you with a checklist of the advancement opportunities possible in camp.  It is up to the parents of the Wolf and Bear Cub Scouts and the WEBELOS den leaders of WEBELOS Scouts to determine if the activity was satisfactorily completed to meet the specific advancement requirement and to record it in the youth's handbook.

Camp Program (Den) Organization
We will strive to organize the Cub Scouts into dens of 10 boys each plus the accompanying adults.  Boys from packs and dens coming as a group will be placed in a den(s) together.  Boys coming individually with an adult partner will be placed in composite dens of boys of similar ages.  In full camp sessions, packs and dens coming as a group with less than 10 boys may have additional boys added to their den.  Dens will be expected to work together as a team, & participate in the program areas together.

Program Sessions
During your stay at CSRC your den will go through program sessions.  These program sessions will include (not necessarily in this order):  BB-Gun Shooting* and Sling Shots, Target Archery*, Fishing*, Boating and boating activities.  In addition to these standard sessions, each Cub Scout will have the opportunity to participate individually in elective sessions to work on Academic or Sports Belt Loops.

*Denotes an opportunity to earn a Sports Pin.

Leadership Requirements
In keeping with the two-deep leadership policies of the Boy Scouts of America, boys have two leadership options while attending CSRC.

  • Option one is for a boy to come to camp with an adult partner.  This adult partner should be a parent or guardian, or can be an adult approved by the parents.  If the adult partner is not a parent or guardian of the boy, the adult must be at least 21 years of age and have the written permission of a parent or guardian to accompany the boy to camp.

  • Option two is for a den or pack to attend CSRC under their pack's leadership.  If exercising this option the pack/den must provide a minimum of two-deep leadership and maintain a ratio of at least one adult for every four boys.  Under this option, at least one of the adults must be at least 21 years of age and a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America.  The other adult(s) must be 18 years of age and registered members of the Boy Scouts of America or parents of boys attending CSRC. Siblings who come to the Williams family camp MUST be accompanied by a parent.

Tenting & Sleeping Requirements
Campers are required to provide their own tent(s) for CSRC.  Tents need to be of adequate size to provide each person in the tent with at least 30 square feet of space, and allow for at least 30 inches of space between the occupant's heads.

Adults and boys are not allowed to sleep in the same tent except in a parent/child situation.

Restrooms and Showers
Several campsites share a central restroom facility with flushing toilets and individual hot showers.  Each camper is responsible for their own towels, soap, shampoo and other person toiletries while at camp.  We have a brand new shower facility at Will Rogers & Williams already has a great shower facility

Meals
All meals are provided as a part of your CSRC camp fee and will be served in the dinning facility as both of our facilities have full dining halls.

Camp Details, Costs & Sign Up Procedures
Each Cub Scout family was mailed a registration packet.  Copies of these sign up forms are available at the bottom of this web page.  Popcorn Scout Bucks can be used as payment for Resident Camp.

How do we get to Will Rogers Scout Reservation?
Camp is easy to locate, we are right off of the Cimarron Turnpike (U.S. 412).  The Hallett Exit (State Highway 99) at the toll booth is the best exit to take.  Proceed north on Highway 99 through the town of Hallett.  Five miles north this road runs into U.S. 64 Highway, veer to the right (East) and go one mile to the top of the hill, the camp entrance is on the right (North) side of the road where you will see a large camp entrance sign.  We are 41/2 miles east of Cleveland, OK on Highway 64 / 99.
